MMSMUN XIII is excited to announce our charity partner being The Virginia Center for Public Safety. We hope to raise $1,000 to support this incredible organization!
The Virginia Center for Public Safety is a non-profit organization determined to reduce gun violence all across the state of Virginia. VACPS aims to accomplish this mission through awareness, education, and advocacy. Their purpose includes strengthening individual knowledge and skills to prevent gun violence. VACPS provides youth oriented videos and educational materials dealing with gun violence and prevention. VACPS strongly advocated for education and training of firearm purchasers. These are just a few examples of what our amazing partner is capable of and why we are supporting them.
In our modern day and age, school shooting numbers are skyrocketing, with hundreds of students dying every single year. Many of these shootings come from unlicensed and untrained individuals, who don’t know how to responsibly use their weapons. VACPS and its initiatives allow for more knowledge, which in turn can help decrease our school shooting numbers.
VACPS also works with legislators to implement ethical and legal gun laws that don’t violate the right to life, and also don’t violate the Second Amendment. Its many safety reviews can keep so many people safe and protect them.
While many may argue that gun control is illegal, the killing of hundreds of children could also be argued as illegal. That is why it makes us so proud that VACPS is able to hit the sweet spot in between. It uses education to teach, rather than draconian measures to restrict.
The money raised from MMSMUN XIII will be donated to VACPS, and will help more children and people stay safe from gun violence, while complying with both parties views.
Due to these reasons, the Secretariat of MMSMUN XIII proudly endorses VACPS.
Thank you for your support,
