The International Criminal Court (“ICC”) is an international organization which prosecutes and tries defendants for various crimes including genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, and aggression. The two topics for this committee are about real ICC cases, and both defendants in these cases are still at large. Delegates of various nations must combine their efforts in order to bring justice to these criminals.
Approximate Committee Size: 25 Delegates
Mahamat Nouradine Adam is a national of the Central African Republic, and has been accused of many crimes such as torture, enforced disappearance, imprisonment/severe deprivation of physical liberty, persecution, and other inhumane acts. He was cruel to prisoners, would ill-treat them, and violently torture detainees with no medical attention. He committed many crimes against humanity, causing the ICC to issue a warrant to arrest him. The warrant was originally issued on January 7, 2019. The ICC has not been able to capture him yet because his location is unknown. Delegates should join forces to address his crimes and figure out a way to serve him justice.
Vladimir Putin is the President of Russia and has been accused of many crimes. These include the war crimes of the unlawful deportation and transfer of population and children from Ukrainian to Russian territory. His warrant of arrest was issued on 17th March, 2023. Due to the fact that Putin is the President of Russia, arresting him will be a very hard issue to tackle and so, it is of high priority to address this warrant.
