Committee Topics

Topic 1: The Berlin Crisis

Topic 2: The Cuban Missile Crisis

Topic 2: The Cuban Missile Crisis

The Berlin crisis marks the most intense part of the Cold War. This was when the tension between the Soviet Union and the United States was at its peak. The altercation between the two superpowers happened in the divided capital of Germany, with the root of the problem being the erection of the Berlin Wall. With the added problem of the exodus out of Eastern Germany, sparks are sure to fly.

Topic 2: The Cuban Missile Crisis

Topic 2: The Cuban Missile Crisis

The Cuban Missile Crisis is the closest humanity has ever been to destroying itself. It marked a dangerous time, in which two world superpowers reached an all-time point of tension. The root of the crisis was found in the ongoing nuclear arms race. The US and the Soviet Union exercised nuclear fear tactics that only brought further irreversible tension. After the United States stationed nuclear-capable ICBMs in Italy and Turkey.
